This year we are celebrating the 109th Birth Anniversary of Param Pujyapad Sri Sri Borda. This celebration is a great tribute to the multi-faceted personality of Sree Sree Borda which was characterized by wisdom, vigour, beauty, renunciation, compassion and so on. Sree Sree Borda was Sree Sree Thakur’s son by birth and by culture. When Yug Purushottam, our beloved Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra left his mortal body, he left his eldest son, Sree Sree Borda as his successor. In Bengali borda means eldest brother. In traditional Indian families, usually the eldest brother takes over the responsibility of looking after the extended family both when the father is alive as well as after his demise. During his lifetime itself, Sree Sree Thakur had given complete responsibility for Satsang to Sree Sree Borda. For a time before his demise, Sree Sree Thakur would send anyone who came to Him to Sree Sree Borda. The great and merciful Sree Sree Thakur was everything to Sree Sree Borda. In recognition of his nurture of the people and his serviceableness and compassionate feeling, Sree Sree Thakur blessed him with this message on his 47th birthday:-
“Affectinate Amarendra !
My eldest son !
Your regardful disciplined activity
and loving compassion
for the people have made my mind exalt.”
Sree Sree Borda dedicated his life towards the fulfillment of the wishes of his love-lord, His father Yug Purushottam, Sree Sree Thakur Anukulchandra. As the head of the organization, Pradhan Acharya, he guided the movement of Satsang with his charismatic personality, with sympathetic service in such a way that the void caused by the physical absence of Sree Sree Thakur was spontaneously filled up. In his endeavours, his only focus was to uplift every individual in a balanced manner, befitting the circumstance. He tried his best to establish the supreme Ideal in the life-center of every individual thereby accelerating the being and becoming of every individual.
By his active sympathetic service, he became father to many father-less children, and child to many child-less fathers and mothers. He rendered help to the homeless and poor to construct their homes. He was very particular in providing all his help and services or the betterment and actualization of self and others. Criminals left the path of crime, drug addicts and alcoholics gave up their addiction and social misfits who came in his contact gained normalcy. There have been countless incidents in Sree Sree Borda’s life which depict his compassion and love for others. Only a few of those incidents have been recorded. He was not only concerned about the well-being of human beings, he was also very caring towards animals and birds. His love for birds and animals were so keen that on many occasions one felt that he could even understand their language.
Sree Sree Borda built thousands of Satsang Centers all over India, for the propagation of the ideals of Sree Sree Thakur and built hundreds of temples of Sree Sree Thakur all over the country urging and helping men to develop their journey towards excellence. Today these centers and temples have become the solace of the suffering humanity and also helping people to develop their socio-economic and cultural condition. To fulfill the wishes of Sree Sree Thakur, he built a hospital to provide free treatment to the poor. Presently, this hospital is rendering free treatment to about 1 lakh patients annually. Every wing of Satsang including Satsang Chemical Works, Satsang Publishing House, Satsang Electricity Department, Satsang Schools, Satsang Colleges prospered tremendously under his guidance.
Sree Sree Borda left for his heavenly abode on 5th August 1994 at Puri in Odisha. By then he had accelerated the progress of the Satsang movement into a glorious phase. After his demise, his eldest son, Param Pujyapad Sree Sree Dada, the present Pradhan Acharya dev has taken over the responsibility of the Satsang movement. Pradhan Acharyadev, Sree Sree Dada spends every single moment of his life to fulfill the wishes of Sree Sree Thakur. Today the Satsang movement is engaged in giving practical shape to the divine mission of Sree Sree Thakur.
